    1. [PAWASHIN] Waldo E. Dalbey
    2. Ruth Sprowls
    3. back in 2004 I posted the message below - I was incorrect in stating that Waldo married Sarah Elizabeth Giles. He married Lillian Viola Blackburn - who was the daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Giles and Newton Demus Blackburn. Just wanted to correct this old posting. Ruth Subject: DALBEY Date: Wed, 26 May 2004 08:37:12 -0400 Anyone researching the Dalbey family, from around the Millsboro area or Monongahela area? Waldo E. Dalbey b. abt 1860's was the first husband of Sarah Elizabeth Giles. They married about 1901, were together in the 1910 census and for 1920 census Waldo was remarried and living in Monongahela. After their divorce, Sarah married William Clarence Porter (parents of my mother in law Mildred "Mickey" Porter.) I have been unable to locate any further data on Waldo, UNTIL LAST NITE. I just love these archived newspapers. In January 1921, Waldo has come up missing. They didn't know if it was foul play or if he was mentally unbalanced due to financial problems.

    3. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: Mitchells- Hance - William etc.Co. Tyrone-Wash. Co. Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2008 13:28:00 -0500 From: James St. Clair <1517mull@ns.sympatico.ca> Reply-To: 1517mull@ns.sympatico.ca To: pawashin-request@rootsweb.com Recent information received from Ireland strongly suggests that Hans/Hance Mitchell of Wash. Co.. was a native of County Tyrone where that unusual name is found in 1700s - Hans' son Hance was naturalized in 11826 as a native of Ireland. Hans Mitchell Sr. died in 1814- will probated 1814. wife (Margaret) is already deceased. Sons are James(Eldest) Alexander, Hance, William, John, Samuiel and daughter Margaret (b. ca. 1798) married Jesse St.Clair, son of James and Jemima(Enlow) St.Clair. Witnesses includes William Mitchell. Who else is researching these Mitchells? Is William a brother? Are there other Mitchells from County Tyrone? Hans and his wife Margaret appear to have arrived ca. 1795 as he is not on 1790 census, at least one son b. in Ireland - daughter Margaret in Wash. Co. The Hans Mitchell family were weavers apparently in Co. Tyrone as well as in Wash. Co. Jim St.Clair

    2. Victoria Hospodar Valentine
    3. David Vincent JURCIC, 20, adopted son of Vincent and Elizabeth JURCIC of the Reissing Road, McDonald, has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Mrs. JURCIC, 52, about 12:30 p.m. Monday in Bridgeville. Mrs. JURCIC, who was shot in the head, was taken by Life Flight to the Allegheny General hospital where she died about four hours after being shot. Young JURCIC reportedly shot his mother on a street in Bridgeville outside of the home of his girl friend, 18-year-old Lois CARSON the mother of the couples' 14 month-old child. JURCIC fled from the scene with his girlfriend and a manhunt followed with area and state police participating. JURCIC turned himself in to State Police at the Carnegie barracks about 7:00 p.m. He was lodged without bail in the Allegheny County jail. It is not clear whether Miss CARSON accompanied him willingly after the shooting but she later escaped or was released by JURCIC. An anonymous caller told police where she was. It was reported that Mrs. JURCIC and David arrived at the CARSON home together. A dispute followed and Mrs. JURCIC, reportedly was shot as she attempted to stop the young couple from leaving in an automobile. JURCIC, a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. JURCIC when he was six months old. His father is a mail carrier in McDonald, and Mrs. JURCIC was active in the Meals-on-Wheels program in the McDonald area.

Author: CynthiaMaher Surnames: McCasland, Moore, Shrontz, McFarland, Carter, Shidlen Classification: biography Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.washington/3505/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The following was found in the Washington County, PA history book, pg 458 & 459: William McCasland, a well-known, wide awake farmer of West Bethlehem Township, was born February 20, 1840 upon the old homestead in that township, a son to Matthew McCasland, who was born in 1802 in County Derry, Ireland and died June 18, 1883. When twenty years of age the father left the "Emerald Isle" coming first to Quebec, Canada, then to Washington County, Penn. He began to work at the tailor's trade in Monongahela, and continued in that business there and in other cities for many years. He then purchased the farm which is now the home of his son and spent the remainder of his life in agriculture. He wedded Sibbie Wilson Moore, September 10, 1825, daughter of James Moore of West Bethlehem Township and the children born to them were: Martha (deceased), Catherine (deceased), Sarah, Hugh (deceased), Henderson and William. Mathew McCasland was a Democrat and although not an active politician, he was ever on the alert to the interests of his party. His wife, who died A! ugust 20, 1879, was a member of the Lutheran church. William McCasland received a limited education in the common schools of the neighborhood of his place of birth, but is a well informed man fond of reading. He managed the home farm some years previous to the death of his father, and has always been a successful business man, practicing in every day life the principles of honor which he believes to be the only foundation of true success. He was married November 23, 1876 to Miss Martha Shrontz, and they have two children: Robert Wilson and Viola Rebecca. Mr. McCasland is a Democrat and has served as school director for his township. He and his family are members of the Disciple Church at Lone Pine. Mrs. Martha McCasland was born September 20, 1846. Her grandfather, Frederick Shrontz came to Pennsylvania from Germany, when a youth and married Elizabeth Shidlen. Her parents were George and Rebecca (Carter) Shrontz. Rebecca is the daughter of John and A. (McFarland) Carter. Her husband died in April, 1885. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. My cousin Joan Bell sent me this video clipping and I was amazed at how it works so great and makes searches easier and quicker to find. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qefdagiK38 You do not have to use it on a web search either. I recently went back to the archives area of the WashPA email list and typed the surname in the left google bar, made sure the highlighter was on and when all the pages showed that had the name in it, I would click the page open and just scroll to the highlight, to see if it was actually a surname or just a word unrelated. I found so much more, that I had missed in the past ,with my search of past postings and that can be long reading when you may be looking for names that can be parts of words such as Gray and you get it as Graysville, and Plants and I would be reading long pages, just to find the word plant as a place they worked or they liked to plant a garden. This has helped me so much in the past few days to find valuable info on lists from roots web and even the Internet itself.
