Dear List, Does anyone know when this funeral home started in business? I was wondering if it was in business in the 1880s-1890s? If not, does anyone on the list know of any that were in business in that time frame? I looking at the Centerville area. The Law Library at the Washington County Courthouse has lists of some burials, but I do not think that it contains lists of all burials for Washington County. You can call the Law Library at 724-228-6747 and ask Patricia Stavovy to do a look-up for you. She is very accommodating. Other things you can do include calling the cemetery office for the cemetery in question and ask someone at the cemetery office to do a look-up for you; if you have time, you may want to check the obituaries posted on the PA-SW-PA Archives at Rootseb.com. Doing this, you would have to go through many obituaries, but you might get lucky. You may also subscribe to the PA-SW-OBITS through Rootsweb. These are only a few suggestions. The courthouse is on South Main Street in Washington, PA. Cynthia

You can also go to the PA State Archives site http://www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us/ has Revolutionary War Military War Abstract Card File. If you find a card with your ancesor's name on it, in the bottom right hand corner you might find some letters and numbers. For example my ancestor has A(6), II, 123. This means that his information is in Series 6, volume 2, page 123 of the PA Archives that are at footnote. It makes it a little easier to find that way. Look at other pages around the one listed though because there could be other information as well. Good Luck Deb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
