From 1893 - 1906 death records were filed at the courthouse and in many instances the cemetery was noted ( but not always) Prior to 1893, churches would be your best bet. Records for deaths after 1906 are at the vital statistics office in New Castle http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health/cwp/view.asp?a=168&q=229939 This is the website for the PA Dept of Health. Any further info would be very helpful in this search. I did locate an article regarding his birthday celebration. In the Monessen Daily Independent , dated Sept. 8, 1941 Monday, page 3, it states: Pennyslvania's oldest practicing physician, Dr. George B. Woods, of Washington, celebrated his 91st birthday yesterday. Claiming that he received enough honors last year when Waynesburg College graduated him with a baccalaurate, Dr. Wood desired no formal observance. ALSO - have you contacted the California Historical Society? They may be able to assist. Ruth Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
