I'm not able to go back from Marion as I do not know his father's name. Census shows he was born in PA. in 1870 census I find Marion and Julia in Latrobe, PA. Unable to find Marion in the 1860 census, but Julia is with mother at Salem Ohio. I decided to try finding Ben & Susan in 1850 and had no problem. They're in Eden Twp., Licking Co., OH which is close to where they were in 1860 but they're listed as Hayes not Hays. But the kids are the same and include two older ones I'd not had. These were born in 1837 & 1839 and are listed as b OH, which means the family moved to OH before 1840 (which isn't surprising since Susannah was b OH. But checking the 1840c, I can't find an appropriate Ben* Hay*. They're either too old or have children too old. Perhaps they're living with parents, in which case we're back to square one. So far I haven't found an One-World tree on Ancestry which works, but maybe I can try some more sophisticated searches. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. John Hays had four sons who all married and had issue. The father of John Hays also named John (b. 1704) came to the US with some of the family before his child John did. John (b. 1704) had nine children. I am still trying to sort out details. If you knew the name of Benjamin's father it would be far easier. I have a lot of ancestors who stayed together and intermarried and one of them is my Clark line. They came from England, moved to NJ, then Washington Co., PA and then to central Ohio, primarily Licking and Franklin counties. Anyway, a Sarah J Clark of this line b Oct 1847 OH married a Benjamin B Hays b Aug 1847 OH. His father was a Benjamin Hays b 1814 PA and his mother was Susannah b 1819 OH. The elder Ben is found in the 1860 census in Plain Twp., Franklin Co., OH. Anyway Sarah J Clark descends from my Evans, Clark and French ancestors all of which came from Washington Co., PA. So I'm wondering if Benjamin also came from Washingon, PA and in particular from the family you're discussing. Interestingly if a bit off-topic, Benjamin & Sarah's eldest child, Ida Hays, married a Carl Bates b 1873 from Kansas And my ggrandfather, Kirby Smith Miller, who's from the Evans, Clark, French had a daughter Laura Essie b 1886 who married a Warren Bates. They moved to Kansas and their older child was Carl E Bates b dec 1918. I suppose the two Bates are related, but I have no proof. My Deichler family lived in Midway, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Following is an e-mail message that I received from a Dr. Heinen in Germany. Marie (Deichler) Pearce Hallo, James, today I received from France the document of the marriage of your grandparents Joseph Deichler and Marguerite Spingler. They married the 14th december of 1875 at Forbach (Alsace), at nine o'clock in the morning. Joseph Deichler was born the 25th february of 1852 at Lisdorf, Marguerite was born the 28th february of 1859 at Klein-Kosel (? I cannot read it exactly). The young couple lived in Saint-Charles (Alsace). The parents of Joseph were Joseph Deichler (52 years old) and his wife Katharina Dini (?), dead since 3rd of december of 1859. Father Joseph and son Joseph worked in a carbon-mine. The parents of Marguerite were Karl (Xavier?) Spingler, dead since 1st july of 1856 and his wife (two names which I cannot read, and the third name: Katharina) Schoeffer, 39 years old. Present were four testigos: the uncle Anton Singler and three friends.
A two-car crash shortly after noon on Wednesday, December 21, in Robinson Township claimed the lives of both drivers. Coroner Farrell JACKSON pronounced both men--Concezio P.
