Dear List Members: Hello - I am new to this list but not to genealogy . . . I need help on this northern line of the Ruple family . . . . Baltis Ruple is the subject of my inquiry - I am trying to update my book : The Ruple Family in America and its Germanic Heritage, publ 1988. Baltis is the subject of one of the six Ruple/Rupel lines covered in the book, and one of three northern Ruple lines. We know more now than then about how to find Ruple origins and how to prove relatedness of Ruple lines in America. One of the ways we can now do that is to conduct Ruple DNA studies . . We have formed a Ruple surname group with the largest DNA company, Family Tree DNA, and have already successfully tested three southern US lines of the family. WE know however, that an older brother immigrated to PA in 1767 from Switzerland and we are trying now to accomplish at least two goals: (1) prove relatedness (or to connect those that exist separately) of northern Ruple lines; and to (2) try to connect a northern line or lines to the same DNA haplotype we already have tested on file with www.familytreedna.com/public/ruple/ If you descend from Baltis Ruple (and we know you are there in Washinton County as well as in Ohio and elsewhere) please contact me and tell me how you are related to this well known Washington Co military and historical figure. I look forward to visiting with you!! And, if you would like to try and settle Ruple family roadblocks we encourage you to consider joining our YDNA group at Family Tree DNA - - all we need is: (1) join our group; (2) submit a simple cheek cell swab (actually two), and in a few weeks you will have established your special "haplotype" DNA profile which can be compared to other Ruple family males for generations to come Please contact me and tell me about joining our small but growing group, and about how you are related to Baltis!!! Thanks P.S. List members: please contact me if you know of a Ruple descendant who might be interested in this subject!! Thanks Jack Ruple, Sr., J.D. jdroppel@aristotle.net jdroppel@aristotle.net
Thanks to my husband, we have located the WELLER Family Cemetery. He and I were over there today & it's located not too far off of Linden Road. It's in extremely rough condition with headstones cracked and on the ground, many fallen trees and undergrowth, vines etc. with an old wrought iron fence surrounding it & this too is fallen down in places but footstones are readable as are 2 old headstones. There is a large granite marker with Daniel Sr. & his wife Elizabeth plus Daniel Jr. & his wife Catherine plus dates of death carved on it. It has obviously been erected sometime in the not too distant past. I took photos but my camera is 35 mm & I'm waiting to have them developed.

Can anyone shed light on the Donora Historical Society? Would you have contact information? It used to be listed as having Justin Shawley as Corresponding Secrectary at 510 Meldon Avenue, Donora, PA 15033-1333 Phone: (724) 379-7014, Fax: (724) 379-8809 , E-mail: shawley@westol.com . But that phone and email does not work. I found this Justin Shawley, jshawley@rostravercentral.com and have emailed him, but had no reply. Much appreciate any information. Thanks very much, Chris
Judy - you must be so elated with those success stories. Keep up the good work, I know kudos don't come often enough. You are doing a great job and your work IS APPRECIATED. hugs, Ruth
Thought I'd drop by and say hello and share some successes. :-) A month ago, an para-legal from Los Angeles, CA wrote to thank me for supplying info on my web about a now-defunct business. A client in his law firm was looking for the business and couldn't find it anywhere-- except on my family webpages. Big surprise to hear from him. (family site) And a man wrote that one of his "unknown photos" got ID'd in the Sharp-Stewart family. He's happy... so much so that he sent another un-identified photo to post -- LOL. (see PAGenWeb pages) A son of a WWII man (unidentified) wrote to ID his father, who is still living. I hope he'll send more info I can post. (genealogy site) I haven't added anything new lately to the religions site but will soon. I want to start early and remind people to send me their reunion notices for 2008. I think a few got missed last year. I've been a little ill this winter, so I'm playing catch-up on submissions. I got some new stuff posted tonight and will keep working on the rest. New: some surname lists; photos; marriage notices. Some marriages overlap into Allegheny County areas. I'll be adding photos and Wills soon too. Hope everyone has a nice Easter holiday and/or nice time off from work or school. I descend through his son Rev. John Clark, Sr. Samuel had a son Ezekiel b about 1770 who is mentioned in his will. But I don't have any descendents of his. Is this the same as the Ezekiel Clarke of Amwell Twp you mention? If so I'd be much interested in anything you have on him. I also have interest in the Waltons and Laycocks as they married into other Clark and Evans lines in Amwell Twp. Actually, looking closer, I also have interest in some Martins who lived in Greene Co., PA and married into my Pruden line. these records are listed in the IGI - they are from the Ohio counties records. Ruth
Yes, I do understand it is LDS - but that page that the link connects you to lists each Ohio county and the dates for births or marriages that are at the site. I am not sure I understand why you asked me that. Is there something against LDS ? Ruth
came across this and thought I would share - is a list of Ohio counties and what vitals are available online. Ruth http://www.ohgen.net/usa/states/ohio/vital-record-batch-numbers-by-county/index.html
