I came across at a yard sale some papers with the following names. Sarah Lindley widow of Samuel Lindley, Jeremiah Lindley of Morris Township, Washington County, Pa. from 1862. Mentions Isaac Lindley and Cephas Lindley. Any one interested in them please contact me at [email protected] I am not related to the Lindley's.
Am working up background on ggg grandfather, William Faulker (abt 1755-1834), who spent time in Washington County (WCO). After service in Revolutionary War as private, PA Continental Line, Faulkner went to WCO. Have record of him on WCO Tax Roll 1788. See several brief references to tavern ownership/operation and one land sale. Faulkner was commissioned captain in 1792 and left WCO temporarily to raise troops. During absence, rented room to tax official resulting in one of many incidents recorded about Whiskey Rebellion. Faulkner also participated in St. Clair expedition against Miamis in 1791 and served in 3d Sub-Legion under Anthony Wayne. Following service with Wayne, Faulkner made home in Adams County, OH. Queries: more precise times for arrival and departure WCO, existence of portraits or relevant drawings, representations of home or tavern, land holdings, local marriage or lady friend, occupation, best local relevant and accessible data sources. Will, of course, share what I learn. Thanks. Bill Stokes

Also check the cemetery projects on the WashPA geneealogy web sites Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Ghenne was LOSTLEN not Lostien - and son Raymond L. died in 1985 and was buried in Monongahela Cem., so I would start with that cemetery. You have many good leads from those that responded to your request, so hopefully you will be able to dig up the remainder of info that you need. The obit says the Michael A. Melinchak Funeral Home in Charleroi handled the arrangements. According to the Washington County genealogy website (www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pawashin/), the Melinchak Funeral Home was purchased in 1979 by Ed Melenyzer Funeral Homes, which is still operating and may have kept the Melinchak records. I suggest you contact Melenyzer Funeral Home, 825 Fallowfield Ave, Charleroi, PA 15022-2102 and see what information they have. Ask for the full record, not just the burial location. Funeral homes usually collected a great deal of information about the deceased, so it's worth getting everything (if they have it).
