    1. Re: [PAVENANG] McQuiston Cemetery
    2. Hi Linda And Thank You. I am actually researching a Smith family and have been for over thirty five years. This Smith family ties into the Crawford family about 1780/81 when Eleanor Smith, daughter of John and Margaret Smith of Huntington and Tyrone Townships, York County, Pa married Robert Crawford in Huntington Township, of York {now Adams} County, Eleanor Smith was born about 1755. So I have been on the hunt for Robert and Eleanor {Smith}Crawford, and their children, including Elizabeth who married David Eakin, Esther who married John Riddle, and Abbie or Abigail/Abigale who married Alexander McQuistion. and the other unnamed Crawford children. It is very possible that Robert Crawford Jr., and younger brother William Crawford stayed in Venango County, or moved to a nearby county. George Crawford, another son, went back to Westmoreland County, where Robert Crawford, the elder, had a few land patents. Evidently, from reports that I have read, Venango County, particularly Scrub Grass township, was a difficult place to live in that time period {1802 - ?} So, anyway, Thank you for this information which as you say, narrows down the search and helps immensely.. Thank You much, again Judy Smith/Colorado -- Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding. 3. Hi, Judy So you are also working collaterals, that are even more distant. Researching collaterals can be so helpful. I was very interested in your comment: >Evidently, from reports that I have read, Venango County, particularly >Scrub Grass township, was a difficult place to live in that time period {1802 - ?} I don't have people in Scrubgrass, but I do in other twps in Venango in the early 1800s. Could you tell me of those reports, or sources where I could learn more about this? Thanks, Linda

    2. John McQuistons family information can be found at the following site. Also, further down on the Scrubgrass page it lists the McQuiston cemetery and driving instructions. http://www.pa-roots.com/~venango/townships9.shtml#Q17 Dennis > > I was very interested in your comment: >>Evidently, from reports that I have read, Venango County, particularly >>Scrub Grass township, was a difficult place to live in that time period >>{1802 - ?} > I don't have people in Scrubgrass, but I do in other twps in Venango > in the early 1800s.
