Many of the Russells and McGinnis' are buried in the Brick Church Cemetery in Lamartine. Are you aware of this? I have photos of many of the headstones. Samuel was the son of David Russell (b:1743, Scotland, d: 1820 PA) and Isabelle Harper (b: 1745, d: 1833). John Russell became an orphan and was raised by David Russell who was John's distant kin. So James and John where raised as brothers. Their decendents settled in southern Venango County.
