The earliest records in these books for the Crawfords are Robert Crawford, Dr. of Cooperstown to Sarah Kelley of Cooperstown,on 21 Jun 1838. Source Franklin Intelligencer. There is a William Crawford mentioned in the History of Venango County book p665, William s/o John and Isabella Crawford to Nancy Reed on 29 Dec 1796. I too was looking for very early marriages in Venango, specifically the area around the Stone Church(Scrubgrass Presb.) There is a film you can order #857354 Item 1 for the Stone Church records from the Family History Center in Salt Lake. Unfortunately the earliest dates recorded were about 1833, mostly baptisms. The Presbyterian Historical Society http://www.covenantweb.org/phs.html has quite a few records submitted by clergy over the years. I have been able to locate early records thru their resources, but it's hit or miss at times. There are quite a few Craw! fords listed in these books for later dates.
