Pat, There was probably 4 or 5 digits depending upon how many phones were in use for that exchange. I can remember in the 50's when Tulsa went to 6 digit phone numbers. BTW there may be two Myers Mills. My records show Georges father, Henry (my 4th great grandfather), died at Myers Mill in Beaver township. Did the town name change? Okay I finally found a 1930 number it is four digits 4362 and is the circulation dept of the Derrick. Oil City Derrick (Oil City, Pennsylvania) > 1930 > July > 12 On the same page Purity meat market has a phone number also four digits but they are too blurred to read. The Oil City Trust and another bank and the Jeweler don't have phone numbers. This is so interesting <G> to me. Just another thing about our ancestors I would never have thought of.
