    1. Re: [PAVENANG] Oil City Cemetery info
    2. I got the information from the secretary when I was living in Pittsburgh. It was probably the mid 90's. I called from my home and she did some lookups for me and sent me the information for baptisms and marriages. I think she has since retired, her name was Mrs. Hynes. My great great grandmother was a Hynes. She also sent the names over to St. Stephens and the secretary there sent me the information for my grandmother and her brother who were baptised there after they moved or that church was built. As for the cemetery information she had me call the day that the cemetery person was in and I got the locations from her. Some of my ancestors were buried in St. Joseph's and some in Calvary. One who was buried in Calvary I was surprised she wasn't buried in St. Joseph because she died in 1919. She is buried in the first row at Calvary. Two of my grandmother's 1st cousins' sons are priests in the Erie Diocese. One is retired and living at St. Stephens and the other is a pastor of! a pari sh outside of Oil City. Good luck, maybe I just called on a good day, or people were nicer then. I know there is a church in Altoona that charges $20 for every individual lookup. It is the Cathedral there now and was the original church in the area, they just don't want to be bothered with the paperwork. Also, I think they just don't have the manpower to do it. $20 a person really makes you think about who you want information on. The cemetery in Altoona has always been nice when I have called and done lookups while I waited on the phone. There is no real office at St. Joseph's in Oil City, so you have to get the information from the person who keep the records at the church.
