    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: chaphill Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.venango/2584.2725.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello. I was doing a search for Albert Sweetapple and found this post quite by accident. I am an antique oilfield engine collector from Texas. I have purchased two pieces of equipment that were used in the Sweetapple oilfield and became interested in the history of this family in relationship to the oilfields. As I round up information I will try to pass it on to anyone that is interested. I realize this is not the typical interest for this site but there may be people that would be interested in this side of this family's history as well. The two pieces of equipment that I bought were a 15 hp Reid oilfield engine made in 1900 and a Cooper-Bessemer Power, the device that converts the rotary motion of the engine to the linear pull on the rods that went out through the oilfield to pump the oil. I can send a picture of each to anyone that is interested in what they look like. These two pieces of equipment are in the process of being cleaned up and made fully functional again. After they are working properly they will be taken to engine shows as a demonstration of how oil was pumped in the early 1900's. 3. This reminds me of the old oil lease that was my fathers after Selby Oil Co sold it to him. There was an old power house that still had the large flywheel and steel tapered pole coming out of the middle of it. The engine was gone, but we had the rods that went to each pump laying all over the place. It is all gone now since they cut the hill down to reroute US Hwy 75 through north Tulsa.
