William and Sarah had ten children by this marriage of which only nine are known at this time. He and Sarah were divorced 5 February 1830 following which he was married secondly to Jane (Davis) Whitman, date and location unknown, but obviously prior to May 1835 when he drowned. I am also aware of the argument that William Sr. must have had more than the six children noted in his will as there seemingly were several possibles noted in early census reports. BUT...as William Sr. was so meticulous in specifying that his son, Samuel, was dead by the time he had written his will in 1825, and more importantly, indicated that Samuel's children were to inherit their father's share, several Cousins researchers maintain that if there were earlier children...they had died by the time of his will! I have not had any primary or direct evidence of an "Isaac" being a descendant of William Cousins Sr. of Venango County, PA. An Isaac did not share in the William's property as did Samuel, William and Thomas...brothers, of course, and Elizabeth, Nancy and Sarah...sisters. All of these siblings had property rights which were transferred to John Hawthorn over a number of years ending in the 1860s. Lastly, I can send you a document that I prepared some months ago. I have had to revise it a bit since we have determined that the Elizabeth Cousins of Ohio that some have mentioned as a first wife, was in fact wife to another person, first to John Wickam and second to a Cousins from South Carolina. Would need your email address to do so...mine is rnwhiting1313@yahoo.com As there were early references to several Cousins in and about the Pittburgh area including William, I have always wondered if they were the missing parents. We have others in Venango County that are not part of the William family...and it is confusing! Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
