Dear Ms. Wilson: I am responding to your postings in the Venango County and Pennsylvania Roots listservs concerning William Gates. I have no information concerning William Gates, but I am seeking information about the family of my great grandmother, Jane Gates Shirk. She and her husband, Miles Shirk moved from Oil City to Morrison, Illinois in 1864. She was born ca 1840. Her father was George Gates, and I believe that her mother was Maggie Gates. She had at least one sister, Ann, and at least one brother, Harry Gates. Their also lived in Venango County. If you have any information concerning the Gates family or these persons, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you George B. Shirk
