(Jan. 23) at the home of his son, Edward S. McAlevy, 111 Imperial St., from a complication of diseases. Born Jan. 31, 1852 in Jackson Twp., Venango Co., son of Samuel A. and Adesta (Williams) McAlevy. Came to Oil City in 1872, resided here until 1915 when he retired and moved to Seneca. He and wife returned to Oil City a few weeks ago. Married Ophelia Fritz on Jan. 8, 1880. She survives with three children; Grace A. McAlevy, attorney Edward S. McAlevy and George F. McAlevy. Also leaves a sister, Mrs. J. T. Johnson of Akron, Ohio; a brother, John A. McAlevy of Hatton, Ark. and four grandchildren. News-Herald - Feb 14, 1942 Ophelia McAlevy - 89, widow of Achilles M. McAlevy. Died at the home of her son, E. S. McAlevy, of 120 Cowell Ave., on Fri. (Feb 13). Daughter of Franklin R. and Nancy G. Fritz; born at Matildaville, Clarion Co., Pa., Sept. 25, 1852. Lived with her family in various parts of Clarion Co. until 1863 when they came to Oil City. Father built one of the first South Side houses in 1864, on Front Street, west of Petroleum Street. Family lived there until 1868. Member of Grace Methodist Church. In 1868 a group of local residents, including the Fritz family left for Tennessee. Had built a large house boat that went down the Allegheny & Ohio Rivers with household goods, farming equipment and cattle. At Louisville they sold the boat and traveled to near Nashville where they bought land. It was a failure and the group returned. She married Jan. 8, 1880 and has lived in Oil City since except for 10 years at Seneca. Husband died Jan. 24, 1927. Leaves three children: Grace, Edward S. and George F.; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral at home of E. S. McAlevy on Mon. (Feb. 16). Interment in Grove Hill Cemetery.
