Hiram is listed as serving in the 10th. Reg. Company C Penna. Vols. He does have a biography in the 1879 Venango County History, stating he was born in Genessee Co. NY from where his parents had left in 1849 to move to Venango County. He served 3 years in the Civil War and married in 1865 to Hattie Smith, daughter of Capt. John Smith & wife Nancy Gordon SMith. Hiram worked on a spring-pole in drilling the Mammoth oil well. Hope this helps! Karen
