May 30,1907 David Lamb A telegram received in this city from Rifle,Col.,Wednesday night announced the death of David Lamb,formerly of Allegheny township.His illness was of brief duration,dating from Wednesday May 15. The deceased was about 65 years of age.He was a son of John Lamb,who came to Allegheny township from Centre county,Pa.,in 1829 and who,during his lifetime,was a prominent and influential citizen of Venango county.David had the advantages of a good education in youth and was a man whose character and abilities commanded respect in the community and among his many acquaintances.At the time of the McDonald developement he engaged fully in the oil business.The past two winters he spent in Cuba on business enterprises.On the 23rd day of April he went to examine some oil property in Rio Blanco,Col.,and was taken down with illness that was the cause of his death.Mr.Lamb had been very successful as a producer in McKean county,and a long time resided in Bradford,but of late years has been making his home near Pittsburgh. The wife of the deceased died 20 years ago ,soon after their marriage.The immediate surviving members of the John Lamb family are:Nannie,wife of S.Q.Brown of New York City,a prominent oil operator and pipe line official;Alfred and Sarah K. Lamb of Pleasantville,Pa;John,of Silver City,Idaho and Mary S.,wife of William J.Bleakley,of Franklin.The deceased was a cousin of Foster W.Mitchell and of Mrs.L.T.Lamberton,of this city. The body was taken to Jamestown,N.Y.,for interment.
