My great grandfather was also in the Venango Poor House. I found the information in the Venango Co. Poor House Register Index, Franklin, PA Library. Other history tells me that "Died in the 'County Home', Rocky Grove...He was hurt when a derrick collapsed on the GRIMM farm in Nov 1897, a week before his father burned to death...He lived 13 yrs. after the accident." Here's the info I received from the Poor House Register Index: James L. Card entered the Venango Co. Poor House June 29, 1907, age 59 yrs.; not able to work; residence Rocky Grove; can read and write; paralysis; divorced. The info and pictures on the web page are a great asset also.
