Mr. Irwin was retired from Quaker State Oil Refinery, Oil City, where he worked in maintenance. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emlenton; was Past Master of Allegheny Lodge 552, F & AM; and the Valley of Oil City and Valley of New Castle consistories. Secretary-Treasurer of the Emlenton Area Baseball Association, he was founder of the area's Independent Baseball League, and was a former assistant fire chief and cub scout master. Born Aug. 10, 1931, in Foxburg, he was the son of Carl C. and Florence Wagner Irwin. Surviving are his wife, Caroline Larimore Irwin, whom he married Sept. 3, 1055; three sons, William C. of Knox, James G. II of Emlenton, and John J., at home; a daughter, Belinda; a brother, John Irwin of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Aldine) Zampogna of Bradford and Mrs. Raymond (Donna) Perkins of Punxsutawney; and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Patrick. A brother, Carlyle, was killed in action in WW II. Friends were received at the Criswell-Gardinier funeral Home in Emlenton. Services were held in the funeral home. Interment followed in Emlenton Cemetery.
