Born Mar. 22, 1888 in Staunton, VA she was the daughter of John and Millie Smith. After the death of her husband Charles D. Thornton of Pittsburgh, she moved to Emlenton to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Margaret Russell. She was a member of Eau Claire Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was employed in the home of Harry Mitchell of Emlenton for eight years. Surviving is her sister, Mrs. Margaret Russell of Emlenton Burial is in Emlenton Cemetery.
