Christy, I'm preparing a book on some Civil War soldiers from Rockland Twp. William G. Sheppard (1836-1902) was a Sergeant in Company L of the 4th PA Cavalry. He is buried in the Rockland Cemetery. Apparently Sgt. Sheppard was taken prisoner in August 1862 somewhere on the Virginia Peninsula between Williamsburg and Richmond. A Captain of Company L, John Pryer Barr, kept a diary. Barr refers on August 9, 1862 to Sheppard returning to the unit. He was an exchanged prisoner. Would you know of any photo of William G. Sheppard or know of someone else who might have one?
