DeWald, died Oct. 7, 1970, at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in Franklin Hospital. She was a former school teacher. She was born Sept. 23, 1891, in Columbia Co., a daughter of Tobias and Elizabeth Miller Heydenreich. A graduate of Jerseytown High School, she attended summer session for teachers at Benton Summer Normal School and taught rural schools in Columbia County for seven years. She and Arthur G. DeWald were married July 24, 1919. He died November 5, 1962. Mrs. DeWald was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Emlenton. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor (James) Moore of Clarion and Mrs. Vera (Harry D.) Andes, Jr. of Pittsburgh; three sons, Dr. Horace A. DeWald of Ann Arbor, MI, Dr. A. Eugene DeWald of Abington and Harold H. DeWald of Gibsonia; and a sister, Mrs Johanna VanDine of Millville. Fifteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Heydenreich and three sisters, Sarah, Grace and Annie; two half-brothers, August and Henry; and three half-sisters, Rosa, Dorothea and Minnie. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today at the William N. Rupert. Funeral Home in Knox and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Removal will be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Emlenton Saturday morning for viewing from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with pastor, Rev. Earl Runge, officiating. Interment will be in the Emlenton Cemetery.
