DeWoody, 84 of Cooperstown, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004 in the home of her daughter in Pleasantville. Born Oct 13, 1920, in Emlenton, she was the daughter of Claude V. and Mae M. Fitzpatrick Shirey. Mrs. DeWoody had resided in the Cooperstown area most of her life. She was married Dec. 18 1937, to Harold J. "Slim" DeWoody, who died Aug 1, 1991. Surviving are fours sons, Carl J. DeWoody and wife Linda of Cooperstown, Jerry D. DeWoody and wife, Nancy, of New Wilmington, Ronald I. DeWoody and wife Joanne, of Franklin and John E. DeWoody of Cooperstown; two daughters, W. Darlene Britt of Thornburg, VA and Kimberly K. Brady and husband, Steve, of Pleasantville, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Charles Shirey and wife, Bonnie, of Pittsfield. In addition to her parents and husband, Myrtle was preceded in death by an infant son, Harold I. DeWoody; three brothers, Carl, Ray, and Junior Shirey; two sisters, Helen Grinnen and Hazel Tommasi. Funeral services will be held at the Hutchinson Funeral Home of Oil City Saturday Nov. 20th. Entombment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
