Oil City Derrick published March 18,1913 p3 c4 Robert J.Pyle FRANKLIN, March 17----(Special)- Robert J.Pyle,aged 78 years,died at 8:43 o'clock Monday morning at his home in Sandycreek township,after an illness of three years.He was the son of Mr.and Mrs.A.J.Pyle and was born in Lycoming county on July 2,1834.The family moved to Mercer county,where Robert resided until his marriage to Marie E.Annable,on October 4,1855 when they came to Venango county settling on Bully Hill.For many years Mr.Pyle was a carpenter and rig builder and 15 years ago engaged in the oil producing business in the Bully Hill district.His wife died four months ago.Of the eleven children in the family,eight survive as follows:Mrs.Fred Smiley,Franklin;Mrs.R.G.Dodds Rocky Grove;William J.Pyle,Mrs.S.C.McConnell,John A.Pyle,Mrs.E.J.Boals,Harry Pyle,Frank H.Pyle of Bully Hill.One brother and three sisters survive as follows;B.F.Pyle,Denver,Col;Mrs.Phoebe Hudson,New Brighton;Mrs.Martha McConnell,Volant;Mrs.Emily E.Smith,Los Angeles,Cal.The deceased was a member of the East Grove M.E.Church. The funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the residence.
