Pyle Assemble to do Them Honor, at their Home. About four score persons assembled at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.J.Pyle, on Bully Hill, yesterday, the occasion being the 50th anniversary of their marriage. At one o' clock three large tables were luxuriantly loaded with an appetising feast, and an hour later nearly everyone had pronounced the spread equal to any ever offered upon such an occasion. Mr. Robert J.Pyle, son of a physician of that name,is about three score and ten and his wife,Mrs.Martha Pyle, nearly his equal in years. They were married in Mercer county by Rev.Jerry Brown in 1855,and made their home in that county for nearly thirty years having come to Venango in 1884;and settled on Bully Hill. Among the guests were Mr.and Mrs. Washignton McConnell,of Lawrence county, where recently they had celebrated their golden wedding, and who were the only persons present who had been at the wedding of Mr. and Mrs.Pyle, fifty years ago.Mr.McConnell is a musician,a "fiddler".They would say in "ye" olden times, who never "carried a note" but who never failed to play a tune he once heard. He favored the company with some old time selections which were well received.Mrs.McConnell is a sister of Mr.R.J.Pyle. The editor of this paper made a short address reminding the guests of the changes since fifty years ago.And of the possible progress yet to be looked for.Several of the older citizens spoke briefly also. The " bride and groom " received many presents, very thoughtfully selected as souvenirs. All joined in singing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" and about 4 o'clock dispersed for some outdoor fun.One of the items of merry making was a game of ball between the ladies and gentlemen. Among those present were:Mrs.P.A.Hudson,a sister and Mrs.Olean Pyle,sister-in-law of Mr.R.J.Pyle,also Mr.and Mrs.Washington McConnell, she being also a sister of Mr.Pyle.The children of Mr.And Mrs.R.J.Pyle who were present are as follows:Mrs.Mary Smiley,Mr. and Mrs.Wm.Pyle and family,Mr. and Mrs. R.G.Dodds and family,Mr. and Mrs.S.C.McConnell,Mr. and Mrs.A.J.Pyle and family,Mr.and Mrs.E.J.Boals and family,Frank Pyle,Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pyle and family.
