I have a Peter Kappis that I have found spelled Kappes anad Kappais as well. He was a German mercenary fighting for the British in American Revolution. He married a Sarah ?. He then shows up in NJ married to her and having 9 children, having changed his name to Cavis. As far as I know he was at Saratoga NY, Charlottesville VA, Winchester VA, Frederick MD, and somewhere in PA. Thank you Cindy
