On the 1900 census, Allegheny, Sharpsburg, the question about the number of children living and the number of children, both has 1. I know of at least two children, Harry and Roy but why would she answer 1 to the question especially since both Roy and Harry were living with them at the time. I have come to believe that anything is possible where Mattie is concerned. You are a good detective though. I am pretty sure that Mattie's father was from England. Every census I have for her it says her father is from England. Of course I would not know about any of her possible other husbands and their families. I am getting more and more confused by her. I have heard that sometimes the mother's maiden name was used as the daughter's middle name. I have not really researched this avenue yet. Do you think Eliza could have been Eliza or Elizabeth Cook?
