The Historical Society, near the courthouse, is the place to start. They have excellent records and very helpful staff. There are indices to many courthouse records, allowing you to check the index before viewing the records at the courthouse. Check their website at http://www.franklinpa.net/vchs.htm for hours and location. Best of luck and good hunting. Surnames: DUNHAM, SHALENBERGER, MILLER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0dB.2ACI/4120 Message Board Post: Anyone have any information on were to research Venango County ancestors. I will be visiting the county hopefully in June of this year and would like a head start of where to look before I get out there. I was out there in the 70's and visited the Franklin Library but didn't go to the courthouse. I would like to be more efficient in my research this time. If anyone of you are a resident or a frequent researcher in this area please drop me a line.
