Shoffstall, 98, of Cooperstown, RD 1, a retired farmer, died at 12:20 a.m. today in the Franklin Hospital. He is survived by a son, Lawrence, with whom he made his home. Mr. Shoffstall was born Jan. 5, 1879 in Crawford Co., a son of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Shoffstall. He was married to the former Effie Whitman (dau. of Oscar "Austin" & Mary Louisa [Whitman] Whitman) who died in 1967. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Burger-Gardinier Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call any time after 12 noon Thursday in the funeral home.
