I have a copy of the original Quaker record from Swarthmore. I also have Joseph Page and Deborah Bell's marriage record from the Gloria Dei Church in Philadelphia, 1777. I can't find Joseph after 1790, I suspect he was given land in Western Pa as military compensation., and died somewhere. Would love the family group sheet. Here is my connection: my father was Francis Nicholas Page, son of Francis Albert Page, son of Thomas P. Page, son of Joseph L. Page, son of Thomas Till Page who married Margaret Steel, son of Joseph Page and Deborah Bell. So Joseph is my gggg grandfather. This has been a fascinating, but difficult family to unravel. Would love to share information. Do you think we are related? So to answer your question I think David Steel's parents were probably Richard Steel and Elizabeth Moore Steele. I have just started to do research in NY, but have run into road blocks. Have you been researching in the Livingston/Allegany Co NY area? I found this reference: [Geneseo] Originally called "Big Tree," from the immense elm tree that stood on the banks of the river near the village [Geneseo Academy] This institution is located on Temple Hill, in the E. part of the village. The buildings were erected in 1826. James Wadsworth was principally instrumental in starting the school. It is under the control of the Buffalo Synod [village] Wm. and James Wadsworth settled in town in 1790. They came from Durham,Conn., with a small party, and located on the present site of the village. Richard Steele kept the first inn, in 1793, and Hall & Miner the first store, in 1794. The census reports 5 churches; 2 Presb., M.E., Prot. E., and R.C. I found this, but I haven't looked at it yet.:1810 STEEL RICHARD Genesee County NY 136 21101-11210 Federal Population Schedule NY 1810 Federal Census IndexNYS1a2967468
