Hi! Samuel Jackson SAWLEY, born 19 Nov 1879, told his family he was born in Oil town, PA. Would like to hear from anyone that might know if he meant, Oil City in Venango Co., PA, or.... is there any other places in PA that might be called Oil town? My big problem is I can't find him on the 1880 census. I have some other research ideas to find his parents, but does any here know or have information regarding him, parents, or siblings? Bev, I have never heard of Oil Town, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. My great grandfather William James KENNEDY, was born in Oil CITY, Venango, Pa. good luck.
