Is this her maiden or married name and who did she marry? Jacob was from Clarion county and those papers are not available to me at this date. If you want Jacob Womer's wifes obit let me know, I found it in the ocd dated 10 Jan 1974. The Oil City Derrick 01-14-1929 Monday William I. Womer William I. Womer, aged 62 years, died at his home, 21 Chesthut st., at 1:30 o'clock Sunday morning after a three months illness of a complication of disease. The deceased was born in Oil City on May 1866, a son of the late Jacob and Ellen Britt Womer and had resided here all his life. He was a blacksmith by trade and had been employed at the Joseph Reid Gas Engine Co. shop for the past 16 years. In 1893 he was united in marriage with Miss Hattie Lowers. The following children survive. Charles, Jacob, Norman, Oliver, Mrs. Pearl Barrets, Mrs. Katherine Rhoades and Mrs. Mary Boyles of Oil City. The body was prepared for burial at the Osenider chapel and taken to the home Sunday afternoon where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Adjutact(?) John H. Brunner of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be made in Grove Hill cemetery. The Oil City Derrick 10-09-1973 Tuesday 'Just Part Of Job' Ambulance Crew Saves Heart Victim By Jeff Farance Derrick Writer A Seneca RD 1 man whose heartbeat stopped after an apparent heart attack on Seneca Street yesterday was saved through resuscitation administered by two Community Ambulance Service attendants. Jacob Womer, who collapsed while walking alone on Seneca Street at about 9:50 am in front of the IOOF Building, apparently suffered a form of heart failure. City meter maid Margaret Shaner reportedly radioed to a police dispatcher for an ambulance after observing the man fall to the pavement. According to CAS secretary Mrs. Patricia Combs, the service received a call for an ambulance to transport a man who had "just died" at 9:52 and sent a car to the scene. TWO MINUTES later, attendants Dan Combs and Robert stahlman were examining the man and confirmed reports that Womer was not breathing and had no pulse. Within one minute, the two attendants had the man en route to Oil City Hospital, with stahlman driving and Combs administering cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, a technique designed to revive accident victims whose heartbeat and breathing have halted. At 9:58, just six minutes after the call had been received. Womer was in the emergency room of the hospital, with Stahlman continuing the revival process and both attendants aiding hospital personnel. Hospital officials later confirmed that Womer's heart had stopped as the result of an undetermined heart malfunction, adding that for a short time he had been "dead". While Combs and Stahlman denied any credit for the incident, referring to it as "just part of our job," CAS Manager Richard T. Mason had high praise for their actions. "If they had arrived enven seconds later, then they might have been unable to save him, " he asserted, pointing out an addition that continual updating of the medical and emergency training of all CAS attendants had provided the knowledge to save Womer. Each ambulance driver, in addition to having standard and advanced Red Cross first aid certificates, receives the CPT training demonstrated in yesterday's rescue. Currently, the group is attending a 10 - week emergency medical training course instructed by area doctors. Other training sessions with the area fire departments, city and state police and hospital staffs rounds out the emergency training to equip the men to deal with the wide variety of emergencies they encounter. The Oil City Derrick 10-12-1973 Friday Jacob W. Womer Dies Thursday Jacob W. Womer, 72, of Seneca RD 1 died at 9:55 pm Thursday in the Oil City Hospital. As to the exact place that he died I can not say. But did find an death index for a Jerrold Franklin Swartz date of death April 1929 being in New Orleans. Birth date was I think 1879 if I remember right. I tried to trace it down and got as far as a funeral home. but that darn Katrina destroyed all the information at that particular funeral parlor and they had nothing else on file. I also found a Jerrold F. Svort who is listed as a boarder in the area around Chicago there a bouts. I think that was in 1920. But other than that there has been nothing. According to my relatives I know the following: 1. while as a brakeman for the RR he fell and broke his back. 2. his half sister Mary, who is my mother's oldest sister b. in 1886, went to take care of him for a while. 3. He never married 4. was a loner ( and rather weird according to his niece another Mary, who is his mother's daughter.) 5. He was also a chiropractor by trade for a while but not sure when that was. 6. He died sometime in 1929 and is buried in the Nickleville Cemetery in behind the Presbyterian Church. His date of death is stated as 1929 but no month, he and his mother share a tomb stone if I remember right. Can't think of anything else. Sure do wish we had a 1890 census to look at or at least a 1885. Do you know if Pa. had a 1885 census during that time? Thanks again.
