    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dmjenner Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.venango/6442/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I just read The Derrick online and there is an article about the Osenider Funeral Home being sold at a sheriff's sale. Every one of my ancestors from Oil City was buried from that funeral home. Does anyone know what will become of the records? Hopefully the historical society or the Heritage Room at the Oil City Library will obtain them. It would be a shame for them to be lost. There is a lot of information to be gained from funeral home records. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: elizabethdhanebury68 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.venango/6440/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been coming upon these article and copying them for my cousins, and thought I would share page 12 The Derrick Friday, January 10, 1975 Oil City Pa ROCKEFELLER DELIGHTED GIVING Away New Dimes Rockefeller in Franklin -- Following the two Part series that appeared in the Derrick this week about John D Rockefeller's Oil City connection, we came across an item that documents Rockefeller's physical presence in Franklin. On page 1059 of the History of Northwestern Pennsylvania by Joseph Riesenman, we find this statement: "The first regular Baptist church in Franklin had its beginning in December 1868 when regular preaching was inaugurated at Hanna's Hall by Rev S. Williams, D.D. Among thos loyal Baptists who worshiped there were two who were to become internationally known thru the Oil Industry John D Rockefeller Sr and General Charles Miller. ROCKEFELLER IN OIL CITY Another bit of evidence that John D Rockefeller was, in fact, in Oil City was received yesterday from Charles D McLouth of 206 W Third St. He said his grandfather, C A McLouth joined National Transit Co in 1885 and later became associated with the Southern Group of Pipe Lines which had offices in the National Transit building Annex RECALLING THE PAST Joseph H Contino of Cowell Ave a retired president of National Transit Co points out that in carrying out the dissolution of the Standard Oil Co (New Jersey) by order of the Department of Justice, 34 companies were cast adrift. And he explains; "instead of one dividend being paid to the parent company, the stock of those 34 companies was distributed to the stockholders in proportion to their ownership in the parent company. The basic fraction was 983, 383 and consequently many persons who never before had held only one of more shars of Jersey became the owners of stock in 34 companies" Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am trying to see who he may have been living with at that time. George was a brother of my grandfather Samuel Webb. Samuel and George were raised by Joseph Newton & Elizabeth Jane Webb Buzza, both of Eng., in Clarion Co., PA. Other siblings were:William John Webb, Mary Jane Webb Mahood, Amelia Ellen Webb Sheffer, Elizabeth Webb Blauser, Reatha Webb McClure Benson who d. in 1919. George was a coal miner & was to have been in a mining accident sometime in 1902. On July 5,1904 he was admitted to the Warren State Hospital. When George died July 19,1926 there was an obit in the Franklin paper on July 20th stating that he had been a former resident of Plumer. I do have him in the 1880 census in Clarion Co. with the Buzza family (his uncle & aunt) & in 1910 & 1920 census at Warren State Hospital. I can not locate him in 1900. This is all I have been able to piece together for George & I would appreciate any inf. that someone might have on him. It was thought that he may have had his mining accident in Clearfield area, but so far I have not been able to comfirm that. The family never talked abt. him, so I have always wondered why he was in Plumer & if he was living with someone there, perhaps they were caring for him &/or maybe friends of the family, I just don't know. The Warren State Hospital would not give me any more inf. than the date he was admitted from Venango Co., his age, height & weight & date he died. Thank you very much. (Sometimes called an Engine House) From what understand, his jacket was caught in one of the gears. One of his sons Albert is my great grandfather. I grew up near where Albert Jr lived. In any case, the children I have for Albert Sr is a little different from the bio. I have Fredrick, Katherine, Charles, Albert, Willis, Doris, Mary Russell, and an infant son April 2, 1898 but died on April 16, 1898. This information is a copy of what Mary Russell had typed up several years ago. According to Mary Russell, they were all born at Brush Hill, Venango County. "Grandma donated the ground to the school and it was built in 1875. It was to go back to the farm if not in use". The school house is still there across the house from where Albert had lived. It passed to my great Uncle Harry who spent a great deal of time restoring it, it then passed to my grandmother and is now owned by my parents. I do have other information and looking for more. I do not have any real info on Albert Sr.'s siblings decedents and their decedents. I know that him and six of his brothers entered the civil war. I do have some info for that. I think Alfred (Albert Sr. brother) was arrested for robbing a house and was in jail for some time. I think that would be an interesting story. Also the tree only goes back to Charles and Sara. I think Charles parents were John and Mary who lived in England. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She died in the early 1940's and is buried in an unmarked grave in one of the cemeteries in Oil City. My understanding was that her family had a large farm near where the Cranberry Mall is now located. She was only in her 40's when she died. I don't know which one but I know it's an older cemetery on a hill.{like Oil City wasn't built on a hill!} She was divorced from Arthur W Myers. She would be my grandmother and she died a long time before I was born so I would love any info about her or Arthur. Arthur was born in Ridgeway,PA and was an engineer for the New York Central.
