Norma, as you can see from the previous post, you are indeed a descendant of the Venango Co. Beatty family but it does not appear to be through Ira Beatty, but through his mother in law. According to the 1919 Venango Co. history, Ira Beatty was from Sharon, PA and I can find no connection in my files between him and the Venango Co. Beattys. However, his mother in law was Nancy Jane Beatty, daughter of Samuel Beatty and Leah McFadden. Samuel was a son of Robert Beatty, a very early settler of Venango Co. I will gladly share what I have on the Beattys and can get you in touch with another researcher from the Samuel Beatty branch of the family. She married Howard Van Lier Capwell who was born Ard Van Lier Kunselman, son of Francis Kunselman and Martha Sara Frampton. They lived in Franklin, Venango Co. until after Howards death in August of 1953. Her brother, Harry M. Myers (known as Hawkeye) was born in Franklin on July 15, 1813 and died there Mar 2, 1940 and is buried in the Sunset Memorial Park. Harry worked for the Highway Department and was a lifelong resident of Franklin. They had sisters Bertha, Nettie L., Alice and a brother named Earl who was b. Franklin, March, 1879?, d. Franklin, July 30, 1926. Do they connect with your Myers family?
Surname: O'CONNER, KING, LAW ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Background memories by my father's cousin: My great great grandfather, Patrick (or Martin) O' Conner, married Emma King. Emma gave birth to my great grandmother, Nancy O'Conner (3/22/1838-11/15/1906) in Youngstown, OH and died when Nancy was relatively young. When Nancy was in her late teens, she did not get along with her step mother and therefore, she traveled with her father as he ran a steamboat between Pittsburgh and St. Louis hauling potash. On one of these trips she met my great grandfather, Ben Hawkins, in St. Louis and shortly thereafter the Civil War broke out. They traveled together and married in Forsyth Missouri on Jan 4, 1862. Later, Ben was arrested for being a confederate spy and was put in prison in St. Louis. He escaped, with the aid of his "mistress" (to quote the provost marshal). They then traveled again and Ben was again arrested in Franklin, TN and sent back to St. Louis were he was eventually released under a bond signed by his mother and sister-in-law. They then made there way back to Nashville, TN where they settled and raised seven children, five to adulthood. They also had 48 great grandchildren. When Nancy was about 50 she returned to Pennsylvania to visit her family for the first time since she left home. I have been trying for some time to find evidence of my Pennsylvania relations. I have a photo taken in Franklin, PA about 1889 at the Isai. Black studio. In the picture are four ladies, Nancy O'CONNER Hawkins (lower right), and "her half-sisters". About 1928, one of Nancy's children went to Pittsburgh to visit her first cousin, "Lil". "Lil" was married to Charles Law. I suspect one of the half sisters in the photo was Lil's mother. Jennie was previously married to Wesley DEWOODY and William BALLIETT. 2 Margaret SIMCOX married G. MCMULLIN. 3 Eliza SIMCOX married Arthur B.
