ROTE, died at her home at Maple Shade at 2 o'clock this morning. Mrs. ROTE was born in Cranberry township on September 28, 1859, a daughter of Jacob and Fannie MILLER ZEIGLER(ZIEGLER), and had spent practically her entire life at Maple Shade. She was a faithful member of the Van Methodist Episcopal church for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a kind neighor, and she will be sadly missed in the community. Surviving are the following children: Frank H., and Clifford S. Rote, Mrs. F. W. Stewart and Mrs. C.O. Pryor, of Cranberry; Mrs. Charles Hogue, of Bradford; and Mrs. C.C. Schreffler, of Oil City. One sister, Miss Zelda Zeigler, of Franklin also survives. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with Rev. M. R. Marshall, pastor of the Van M.E. church officiating. Internment will be made in the Mt. Zion cemetery.

Rapp, 81, of 586 W. Corydon St., died Saturday (June 20, 1998) at Bradford Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept 7, 1916, in Tylersburg, a daughter of Charles and Ruby ROTE HOGUE. (Former residents of Venango Co.) On March 4, 1966 she married Cecil Rapp, who survives. A 1935 graduate of Bradford High School, Mrs. Rapp had been employed as an assembler at Airco Speer Electronics. She retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, where she was the treasurer of the Sunday school and a member of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Bradford Ecumenical Home Auxiliary. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Ellen Filippini of Stockton, Calif.; two stepdaughters, six grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Hogue of Foster Brook; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Duane Smith, five brothers and one sister. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.

They supposedly lived in the Franklin area, of Venango County, from the early 1800's. John and Martha and their children moved to Clermont County, Ohio in 1816. John was born in Ireland in 1762. Martha was born in 1779 somewhere in Pennsylvania. I am looking for further information on this family and their tenure in Venango County. I would also appreciate a lookup in the early marriage index to determine if John and Martha's marriage is recorded there.

Flames spread rapidly, destroying the Hotel and Toll House and heated the wires supporting the bridge. The weakened wires broke and the bridge collasped. Mrs. Mary McIntyre was on the bridge with her three children. George, Mary and Sarah McIntyre and Wilfred Kilgore who was a nephew. Mary was rescued with a broken shoulder. Wilfred's body was found in the wreckage. Mrs. McIntyre died three days later of injuries received in the collapse of the bridge.

Can someone tell me where Hickory Point is? The Bully Hill Cemetery is supposed to be there or at least that is what I was told. I grew up in Franklin but I don't remember anyplace called Hickory Point, but do know where Bully Hill is. Helen
