D. Bailey who died at Washington D.C. Dec 15, 1862, his full name is David Bailey and is my G-G-Uncle. He was the son of Thomas and Violet Hunter Bailey of Richland Twp., Venango Co. near Emlenton. They are my G-G-Grandparents. He is buried in Presbyterian Cemetery (Old Brick), Salem Twp., Clarion Co., PA next to his parents. And Ellen Bailey Ritchey, daughter of Thomas and Violet Bailey and sister to David Bailey, was married to James Ritchey, Jr. and they are my G-Grandparents.

I wondered why my Uncle, Thomas Reed Stover, was not listed among the soldiers from Pennsylvania who fought in the First World War, until I perused the list a little more closely. There are four grouping sorted by rank -- Killer in Action, Died of Disease, Died of Wounds, and Died of Accident. So these are apparently the unfortunate soldiers who didn't make it through the war. I guess I'm pleased, then, that my uncle isn't listed. I did, however, find an interesting name among them. My father, Paul Byron Stover, and his family (including my uncle ) lived in Emlenton, Venango County, PA. There appears in the list of soldiers who were killed in action, a Pvt. Colonel N. Stover of Emlenton, whose name I've never seen nor heard before. Also, there is a Sgt. Harry C. Stover, of Thomasville, among those killed in action. I can't find Thomasville on the Pennsylvania map.
