Posted on: Venango Co. Pa Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Venango/2236 Surname: Childs ------------------------- Hi! Might be able to help you find Sarah's parents. There were two related branches of the Childs family in Crawford Co. PA, some in the French Valley, so could have been in Venango Co. too. Isaac Childs, who arrived in 1821, and some of the descendants of his brother Silas Childs. All of them had come from Washington Co. NY. Silas' branch arrived 1820-1845. I've been in touch with a Stearns family researcher who had mentioned to me a Tingley/Childs marriage. And there was a Sally Ann (perhaps used as the nickname for Sarah) mentioned in a Childs family Bible, daughter of Isaac Childs, b. 1780. Contact me and I'll fill you in on the details.
Subj: Huffman connections Date: 8/13/2000 To: PAVENANG-D-request@rootsweb.com Greetings Rooters! I have been told that many Huffman families who left Venango County in the early 1800s moved to Wayne County and Medina County, Ohio. My gggrandfather, James F. Huffman, born in PA about 1801-1806, moved to Ohio as a young man and in 1830 married Catherine Wilson in Medina County. Though not yet confirmed, clues indicate he may have moved to Ohio with an older brother named John and a younger sister named Margaret. I would greatly appreciate corresponding with anyone with information on the Huffman/Hoffman surnames of Venango County. Thank you, Donna

I know that similar combinations happened in Scotland on numerous occasions but this one does not gell somehow. Does anyone have the actual marriage entry of these two people or a positive birth/baptismal original entry for any of their children?

Hi I am new to this list and am interested in the Green(e) family. Some of mine lived just over the line in Troy Twp, Titusville, and Hydetown. Were there any Greenes in Venango? My line starts with Cyril Greene who came to Crawford Co in 1835. His children were Orin, Silas W., Sarah, Cyril Jr., Lyman, Hiram and Riley Green. Any help would be greatly appreciated.--Betty ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! Penny, Thanks for posting the list of newspapers and dates available. The year I was looking for was there, fortunately, so I contacted my county library here in NC today and they will order it through the Inter-Loan Library program for me. You were most helpful! Marcia K. McEntire Lund
