Posted on: Venango Co. Pa Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Venango/2346 Surname: Borland ------------------------- County PA - Carole, what you have seems to fit the message that I collected from Isaac Borland on Genforum - however, I have other collections that are contradictory. Since you are both in the States, you probably have more original documents that can confirm or otherwise - so many folks seem to be claiming descent from Northern Ireland when this does not appear to be correct and appears to be based upon some earlier research that may possibly have been assumed and not properly confirmed with any documentation. There were far more John Borland men floating around in America than is generally realised. Anyway, I post you the message put on the forum from Isaac Borland on GenForum = imbord@penn.com: quote - I have John Borland, born in the North of Ireland and came to Chester County, PA. in 1765. He married Catherine Montgomery, born in Frederick, MD., and lived near Gettysburg, PA. They settled in Center County, Ferguson Township, PA. John died in 1815. His will is dated June 30, 1815. Their son, Andrew, born 1774. Andrew's son, Huston was born in 1803. Huston's son, John, born in 1828. John's daughter, Mary Jane, was born in 1863 and was a school teacher. In the geneology I have there is no further information on her. / John and Catherine Borland also had a son named Archibald who died 8/24/1840 at age 72. I recently visited the Rock Spring, Borland, Glenn Cemetery in Center County, PA., where John, Catherine, and Archibald are buried. - unquote Hope you both make contact - Patricia
