Posted on: Venango Co. Pa Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Venango/2410 Surname: Surrena, Shuler, Huffman ------------------------- Simeon Surrena was born Jan. 9, 1840 in Venango County to Richard and Elizabeth Hoffman Surrena and married Nancy Shuler on August 7, 1863. He died October 28, 1917 and is buried at Prairie Cemetery. Simeon's father, Richard Surrena, was a son of Philip and Elizabeth Baker Surrena. I have Nancy's parents as Fred and Sabrina Shuler, but the death certificate was difficult to read. I have Simeon's Civil War Pension papers, but her parent's names aren't listed, but all of their children and their birth dates are. Nancy was born Dec. 12, 1844 (stone reads 1845) in Lawrence Co. and died March 26, 1913. She is buried at Prairie also. Was her mother's name Susan or Sabrina? Shaffer or Staffer? How can I help?

Posted on: Venango Co. Pa Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Pa/Venango/2405 Surname: Wagner ------------------------- Thank you Ruth and Sylvia. Sylvia told me she thought the closest Catholic Church would be St. Michael's in Emlenton. Would someone be kind enough to send me St. Michaels address and/or phone number. I learned the Pittsville information from Joseph Wagner's Death Certificate and am at a loss where to start with an 1856 birth date. I live in Michigan; Joseph married in Wisconsin, and he died in Chicago. Any suggestions would be wonderful although if I can be lucky enough to find Church records, they may be a good start. Again, thanks. Janet
Posted on: Venango Co. Pa Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Pa/Venango/2403 Surname: Reichard ------------------------- I can't answer your questiona about your family. But, my great-grandparents, Jacob & Henrietta(Bicehouse) Reichard, lived near Pittsville which is in Rockland township, Venango Co. They sometimes used Pittsville as their mailing address and other times used Freedom. I don't know about a Catholic Church there. I'm pretty sure there was a Methodist Church. It was a very small settlement. There would have been no birth records that far back, unless a church could have had some. Franklin is the county seat.
Hi I am new to this list Need directions to the courthouse and office handling naturalization records. Will be coming up I 79 Thanks for any help Tom Maher tlm414@bellatlantic.net

I can place him, not in Venango County, but in Scranton in 1880 and 1900, but not in 1910 or 1920, though I suspect that he may have remained in PA. He was born in England in 1870. His wife Ellen and two daughters, Maria and Sarah, are listed with him in the 1900 Census. His father, also Thomas, who was born in Ireland in 1845, came to the US from England in 1870, and resided in Scranton also. He had atleast seven brothers, one of them named Edward. I don't have the other brothers' names yet. I do have quite a bit more information on them, though, but too much for this message board. Do you know where in Europe that your Harringtons came from? If we are in the same line it is probably in Europe that the lines meet. David

I am sorry. I sent this to the list my mistake. It is of a personal nature and was going to address it to the list owner in another e-mail. PLEASE FORGIVE MY INDISCRETION. ThANK you. Kat
Claire, Just received the pictures of the "Keefer coverlet" in the mail today. I LOVE IT. Must have. I forgot what your asking price was. I have the letter here somewhere but right now can't find it. Would you please let me know the price so I can get it to you. Also, where do you want it sent? To the address on the envelope? Anxiously awaiting you answer. Also do you have any document as to when it was made> Possible on the coverlet it's self? I think I remember you saying it was 100yrs +?? If I made a mistake, I stand corrected but, still want it. I need to send an old letterhead to the list master letting him know the name is William L. KEEFER and not William S. Back the L's were mistaken for L's. If you would like a copy of one letter he sent from his store, I would be glad to scan and send as an attachment. I have many from William and his brother (my gggreat-grandfather David P. KEEFER) The L. is for Long, his Mothers maiden name. I would like to publish this to the PAVENANG mailing list so the correction can be made. He keeps getting listed as William S. Thanks Kat
