I would be glad to scan you the photos and or send the names that are written on the back of the photo to you to see if you have a connection. My great grandmother was a Tenbus and her mother was a Daughenbaugh and I am having a hard time finding any information on her mother's family. Her mother was first married to a Fowler. My g grandmother was born in 1878 in Venango County I believe and these photos would have been circa 1895 -1910.

    1. [PAVENANG-L] Re: Daniel & Fanny (Cuddy) WILSON - Dungannon, Ct. Tyrone, to Venango Ct, PA, cir 1839
    2. Carolyn Hendry
    3. My Venango County Interests: Daniel WILSON, b. 1797, Dungannon. Co. Tyrone, No. Ireland; and his wife, Fanny Cuddy, b. 1799, possibly in Dungannon, also. Daniel is a younger brother of John WILSON who appears in a separate query. He married Fanny in Dungannon, and they lived on the Wilson family farm outside of Dungannon until 1839. The following children were born in Dungannon: John, b. cir. 1822; Rebecca Jane, b. 1824 (m. Joseph McCaslin in Venango Co.); Thomas, b. 1827 (m. Louise Bennett in Winona, MN); Samuel Wilson, b. 1829; Mary, b. 1830; Elizabeth, b. 1834; and Anna, b. 1836. In 1839 Daniel sold the family farm and the family set out for America to join an older brother, John, and his family in Venango Co., PA. A few days out, the ship encountered a vicious storm during which John, the oldest son, was washed overboard and lost. The ship returned for repairs but again set out on its voyage across the Atlantic. After arriving in Venango, Daniel settled on 500 acres possibly near Neilsburg where the family homestead was located. The last son, John A., was born in Venango. He first married Jenny Shaw who died young, then later married Helen Arnot. The oldest daughter, Rebecca, who married Joseph McCaslin, in Venango, had two children, Mary Ann and Samuel. In the spring of 1850, Rebecca, Joseph, and their young son, died within a couple of months of each other. They are buried in the Wilson family plot at Concord Cemetery outside of Pleasantville. Their daughter, Mary Ann, later lived with her grandparents, Daniel and Fanny. There is a lot of information about Thomas who, after completing law school at Meadville College in 1855, left for the territory of Minnesota where he had a career in law and politics. It is thought that Samuel became a teacher, left the area, and died young. Nothing is known about the three remaining sisters, Mary, Elizabeth, and Anna. The youngest, John A., first became a teacher but later attended divinity school in Scotland, then returned to the U.S. as a Presbyterian minister. Daniel spent his later years living in St. Louis, MO, probably with his son John A. since St. Louis was John's first assignment after graduating from divinity school. Deniel died there in April 1881. There is no information about Fanny and when she died. They are both buried in Concord Cemetery in the family plot. The story goes that Daniel did very well during the oil boom in the area, and built a large home in Pleasantville where the daughter's may have lived after their parent's deaths. Daniel and Fanny WILSON are my GGrand Uncle and Aunt. I would like to learn as much as I can about the family during their lives in Venango, and hopefully contact someone who is descended from this family either directly or as an extended family member. Regards, Carolyn, Wash State

    1. [PAVENANG-L] John & Isabella (WILLSON) WILSON - Dungannon, Ct. Tyrone, No. Ire., to Venango Co. PA, cir early 1800s
    2. Carolyn Hendry
    3. My Venango County Interests: John WILSON, b. 1794, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, No. Ireland; and Isabella WILLSON, b. 1796, No. Ireland John and Isabella are my 2nd GGrandparents. I know that John was born in Dungannon, but am not sure about Isabella. They immigrated to Venango Co. PA, USA, in the early 1800's, settling near Titusville, PA (possibly what was then Neilsburg). They homesteaded in Venango, their children were born there, and the oldest daughter, Jane, married John Stewart there. Their children were: Jane (m. John Stewart); William (m. Rebecca Jones); James Foster (my GGrandfather, b. 1826; m. Margaret Stewart & Sarah Matilda Stewart); Elizabeth (m. Phineas Johnston); Mary (m. Mr. Carlisle); Nancy; and John (m. Melissa Mann) The family left Venango Co. for Ontario, CN, in 1845-6, settling in/or near Binbook, ON. John and Isabella lived out their lives there and, I believe, died during the 1861-1871 timeframe. The three oldest children's ages would have ranged from possibly 25-20 years of age at the time the family removed to Ontario with the other siblings being in their early to late teenage years. I would like to make contact with anyone who might be connected to this WILSON family either as a direct descendant or an extended family member. I believe the parents, John and Isabella, were part of a larger WILSON family who immigrated from County Tyrone and may have either settled in Venango or nearby counties of western Pennsylvania. Possible other siblings of either John or Isabella might be: Andrew, Samuel, Mary, Nancy, and another John. A query for Daniel WILSON, a known sibling, will be posted separately. Regards, Carolyn, Wash State
