Lee, Your ancestor, Joseph V. Gegogeine, was the older brother of my great grandmother, Sophia Vernie Gigogne. Leslie Raybuck did such a great job sharing this info with me, I'll let her tell you what she knows. I found out some interesting things from her. Not as much as I would like. Joseph was born Desle Antoine Joseph Gigogne in La Cote, Haute-Saone, France on April 14, 1852 and was married Oct. 13, 1883 in Sugar Lake, Crawford Co., to Ellen Beers the daughter of John Moore Beers and Mary Jane Van Guilder. Joseph was the son of Claude Francois (Joseph,Sr.) who emigrated with his wife and four children in 1853. Joseph Sr. was a wooden shoe maker in Frenchtown, Crawford Co., His wife was Maria Sopia Triboulet b. 7 FEb. 1825 in La Cote and died Feb. 14 1908 in Frenchtown. The are buried in Frenchtown. The Beers family are buried in Sugar Lake. I will send you more to you e-mail later.

I checked the listing of burials there and there is no Stobarts listed, however there appears to be at least 100 missing stones or unmarked graves (according to my source). Please, researchers of General Edwin Clinton Wilson and Elizabeth McCalmont Wilson, help me out. Their son John Adams Wilson b in Franklin on 9/24/1851, m Ida Gordon on May 18, 1875. Ida's parents were Hiram B. Gordon and Anne McClintock. I have the McClintock line pretty well nailed, but I'm having trouble with the Gordons. Hiram's father was Joseph Gordon b 1799, and Isabelle Foster, both of Wolf Creek Twp Mercer Co. Hiram apparently moved to Venango before he married. Herein is the problem, Joseph's parents are said to be George A. Gordon and a Miss Clark, who moved from Westmoreland Co to Venango Co. I cannot find a trace of George A. Gordon, nor what his wife's first name was. If anyone is familiar with the above mentioned families and has Gordon information, Please, I beg you, email me at pattypainter@cs.com Thank you.
