I checked my Dunlap file for Ruth and Catherine but found nothing. I have very little information on my Dunlap family. My great grandmother was Anna Mae Dunlap. Here are my Dunlaps: 1. Wilson Dunlap, b. 28 Feb. 1855; married Christina Jane Porter Children: John, Laura, Sarah, Amanda, Samuel, William, Thomas, Sylvia, Arthur, Frank, Golda, Willis. 2. Arthur Dunlap, married Mazie Beach Children: Arthur Leonard, Jr., William Lee, Wallace Edward, Richard Wayne, Sadie Lou, Anna Mae, George, James, Edward. 3. Anna Mae Dunlap, b. 16 Nov. 1866, d. 30 March, 1929 in Franklin, Venango Co., PA. She married Orrin Rudesill. Children: Earl, Hazel Irene, Harry E., Charles Carlton, Edward A., James, Marguerite. Good Luck in your search, Jill Reese Lindemann
Re Linda Griswold's query: My gg-gm, Catherine (Dunlap), lived in Oakland Tsp. between 1840's - mid 60's. She was born in 1809 in Clearfield Co. and married Samuel McIntire. It appears all of their children were born in Venango Co. If anyone is researching Dunlaps who were in Venango during this same time period, I would love to hear from them & exchange info. Thanks. Posted on: Venango Co. Pa Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Pa/Venango/2703 Surname: SAGER ------------------------- I have a Ruth BAKER (b. circa 1851) married to ??? DUNLAP (died 10 March 1895). After the death of her first husband, Ruth married my Great-Great Grandfather John Peter SAGER (b. 17 June 1861 in President, Venango Co., d. 11-Nov 1901 in the Scrubgrass area). At the time of Ruth and John Peter's marriage, John Peter was a widower with two girls, Rachael and Mary. Ruth and John Peter were married on 19 July 1901, he then died in November of that same year. His daughters were split up and raised by different guardians, not by Ruth. I don't know what happened to Ruth after that; I have been trying to piece together the details around John SAGER's first marriage, second marriage and who raised his daughters. Unfortunately, my Great Grandmother was only about 8 years old when both her natural parents died within 7 months of each other (his first wife died 10 April 1901), and she could not remember much about her parents. I hope that this is the Ruth DUNLAP/BAKER connection you are looking for. I know that this doesn't offer much information in regards to Ruth and John BAKER's family, but I hope that it helps. Also, I would greatly appreciate anything that you might have relating to Ruth BAKER. Please contact me at todd@thekellyfamily.org. Thanks in advace. Todd

Gail, I have just visited your website on the MATTERN family. You obviously have done a great deal of work on this, and the site is one badly needed on our family. However, you appear not to have received any of the early history of the family which as of this time is documented thru German Church records, Inventory records, etc. The family's earliest known ancestors are Hans (b 1614) and Catharina MATTER (b 1616) which appear in the church records of Alteckendorf (Altdorf, Eckendorf)Elsass-Lothringen (Alsace-Lorraine) Johann Adam (grandson of the above) and Maria Magdalena (QUIRIN) MATTER(N) were the 1751 immigrants on the ship Edinburgh. Their 4 children were born in Ingwiller, Elsass-Lothringen, and came with them. There were 3 other MATTER(N)s on the same ship: Jacob, George, and John (Hans/Johannes). They were cousins of Adam, not brothers. I have approximately 5000 names in my MATTERN database, and would be glad to share these with you (by gedcom) if you are interested. Sharon A. Huffman
Gail Mattern: I have no info on the William SMITH who m a Lorania HACKETT, but Julia Ann MATTERN and husband John SMITH, m 15 Sep 1827, had a son, William T, b 3 Apr1830 who m an Elizabeth NICHOLS. I haven't yet visited your MATTERN site, but will do so soon. First, you show Andrew MATTERN, b 1788, in Centre Co. PA; he was my gr-gr-grandfather, and was born in Franklin Tp, Huntingdon Co PA, and died in Venango Co PA. His 1/w (my ancestress) was Eve ISENBERG, and 2/w Rebecca STEVENS. Some of the MATTERN descendants of Georg & Catharine (SHUPP) MATTERN did settle in Centre Co., but Andrew was not one of them, nor were his parents. Sharon A Huffman sharhuff@aol.com
