The address or name of the road may have changed since the photo was taken in 1917. It appears to be on a corner, two stories high.It would have been built pre-1918. She had a sister named Jude that was married to a Freeman. Jennie and Richard had a daughter named Leah that was married to a George. One of Leah's brothers was James Bannon Mohnkern. He is my grandfather. He was married to Nellie Shattenberg. They only had one child, Arnold Mohnkern. He is my father. They all were born and raised in Oil City. Dear Ms. Wilson: I am responding to your postings in the Venango County and Pennsylvania Roots listservs concerning William Gates. I have no information concerning William Gates, but I am seeking information about the family of my great grandmother, Jane Gates Shirk. She and her husband, Miles Shirk moved from Oil City to Morrison, Illinois in 1864. She was born ca 1840. Her father was George Gates, and I believe that her mother was Maggie Gates. She had at least one sister, Ann, and at least one brother, Harry Gates. Their also lived in Venango County.
