My father was born 19 July, 1904 in Siverly. When he was a young man he changed his given name and I would so like to find his baptism to see what it originally was. Are the St. Joseph's records available to search? I tried 25 years ago and they would not let me look at them at that time. I am hoping they are open to search now or better, microfilmed and at a Library. I am willing to pay for any time and expense if someone can search them for me. I believe his given name may have been Charles James (McNerny/McNerney) or variations thereof. He was born to Charles James McNerny and Eleanor Charlesworth. Thanks for any help. Linda, there are burial records at the cemetery itself, and they are quite helpful when asked about them. We did this in person but feel they would take care of a written request too. Is there a source anywhere of burials in Franklin Cemetery? My grandmother, Grace D. Ross Pierce, d. 4 Feb 1919 in Franklin. Her death certificate says she was buried in Franklin Cemetery, but the date is not legible -- it is either Feb. 6 or Feb. 8, 1919. Thanks, Linda Pierce Moore

Any directory you want to know about give http://www.uscitydirectories.com/ A try. They have "known" directories listed. Start on the upper left and pick state and then scroll down to town <G> The last known is 1927 so write the Oil City library and ask if they have any and perhaps they will look up or you can borrow ILL from your local library. I am trying to determine if my great-grandfather's stepfather, Edward Lawton, appears during those years. I believe he lived in Pittsburgh until 1913 and I know that he was living in New Kensington when he died in 1946, but I'm not sure where he was between those years. I found an Edward Lawton in the 1920 and 1930 census in Oil City and I'm pretty sure it is the right one. I live in the Pittsburgh area so if they have directories at a library in Oil City, I would be able to travel there to do some research.
