Hello Listers, I had a crazy idea some time ago. I've been trying to tear down a brick wall and it occured to me that I might get a clue from newspaper articles, but with my luck, the information would be in one of the German language newspapers. This family spoke German up until my mother's generation. I thought I'd read through and copy all the articles with my family name and try to find someone to translate. Well, the type (font) they used was nearly impossible to read and it seems they capitalized every third word. I gave up in disgust. Does anyone out there know if anyone has tackled this task already? Is there a compilation of translated old German newspaper articles? Would anyone like to try? How about a high school or college German class? OK, I'll go sit quietly in my corner now.
