    1. KLOSS/KLOSE/CLOSE
    2. Sarah McCray
    3. This is my first posting to this list. I am researching the above names. KLOSS/KLOSE/CLOSE is my father's line. I have a copy of some research my late uncle did many years ago. The KLOSS history begins with the arrival of Leonard Melchior KLOSS in America on Sept. 9, 1738. He left his home at Esling, Alburn, Wittenberg, Germany which is in the Province of Saxony on the Elbe River. He left from the Port of Rotterdam taking with him his wife, Margretta (Margaret) and his two year old son Ernst (Ernest); they sailed aboard the British ship "Glasgow" captained by Walter Sterling, in the Spring of 1738. There are many references to them as having settled in Berks Co. One mentions Melchior Kloss made a property return in Maxatawny Township Berks County, Pa. March 18, 1776. He also paid Federal tax in Towmaneensing Township. Ernest KLOSS married Catherine Suter, who was born April 24, 1741. Thier children: Aaron, Solomon, Daniel, Jonathan, Gideon, Jacob and Abraham. Solomon, Daniel, Jacob and Abraham settled in Union County, that part which is now Snyder Co., Pa. I am despareately trying to find any information on KLOSS/KLOSE and anyone researching these names. 3. The PAGenWeb Project in conjunction with researchers at the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution are undertaking a study of the work of Eadweard Muybridge in an attempt to locate descendents of the models that he used. The photographic work of Eadweard Muybridge was undertaken at the University of Pennsylvania in 1885-87. We are in hopes that some of the models documented their experience as a model in journals or letters that have been passed down and the their descendents would be willing to share the information with the researchers. Please stop by the website and see if you recognize any of the names. 1. Birth 1875 & Census 1870
    2. Can someone let me know what churches there are around Lewisburg and New Columbia, possibly Episcopal but maybe German Reformed, that might have a record of a birth from 1875? I'm having to guess where this child was born, unfortunately, but at least I know the year. Thanks very much. Laura Alderson, Raleigh, NC PS--Anyone able to do 1870 census for Lewisburg and/or New Columbia?

    1. KAUFFMAN- Union/Snyder County
    2. Judith Kaufman
    3. Listers, I recently received some information on my husbands family (Kauffman/Kaufman) that now leads my research from Union County to Snyder County. I think..... I am seeking information on the county Samuel Kauffman and wife Harriet (Loudenslager) were living in around the 1850-1900 time frame. A recently received death certificate for their son, Abraham Kauffman, who died in Buffalo Township, Union County in 1925, lists his date of birth to Samuel and Harriet as November 14th, 1852 in Snyder County. I am seeking information on other children of Samuel and Harriet Kauffman, where they lived, and when did they or their children (Abraham) move to Union County. I have checked the Snyder County GenWeb page and it states Snyder County was created from Union County on 2 March 1855. I'm not exacty sure where I should be looking for Samuel Kauffman. If anyone is able to make a connection, I have information to share on Union County to Delaware County to Chester County Kauffman/Kaufman's. Thanks much, Judy Kaufman Landenberg, Chester County, PA

    1. ERTLEY information needed
    2. Don Ertley
    3. I am looking for facts about Christian Ertley (baptized 8.24.1791 Windsor Twp, Berks, Co, PA) son of John Ertly and Barbara Heinly. Who did Christian marry, did he have any brothers? The son of Christian was Levi Ertley (1821-1874) and he married sisters from Union Co. Elizabeth and Sarah Mathias(1821-1878) , daughter of Henry and Margaret Mathias who both (died 4.19.1853) and are buried in the Kratzerville cemetery near Salem or Selinsgrove, PA. The lineage of Levi's son Henry Paul Ertley who lived in Mifflin or Snyder Co is something I'd be willing to share. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Don and Cathy Ertley World Mission Associates P.O. 2. Andrew Reichenbach
    3. Hi everybody! Are you willing to share information about a particular surname with other researchers? Are you looking for information about a place (town, church, business, etc) from long ago that you can't find? Or do you have the name of a person who seems to be escaping your research? Maybe someone else can help you! I'm looking for anyone who would like to add a surname, place name request or the name of people you would like to get more information about. Check out my Union / Snyder / Northumberland County page at http://yourpage.blazenet.net/areich/Gen-localstate.html I have received a great deal of names so far but there's always room for more! Take a look and let me know if there is anything else you want to see on there...I am always looking to improve the site! Thanks Andy Reichenbach
