My brickwall was born in Ireland or possibly in VA. He appears to have arrived in Adair Co. KY in 1802/1803, probably living in the household of Alexander WALKER who I believe was from Rockbridge Co. VA. In 1803 John married Polly Hughes, dau. of Blackmore Hughes (from VA). Had 2 daughters, Nancy and Polly. Polly Hughes died, and John married 2nd time to Sarah Selby, dau. of Thomas Selby (from Post Vincennes, Indiana, formerly from Maryland). Had 8 additional children in Adair Co.: Thomas W., James, Isyphena, Avire, John Newton, Blackmoore, Amanda, and Merisse. John was of Scotch-Irish descent, and served in War of 1812. Believe his parents came over from Ireland, probably when John was very young. Family tradition says they had other kin in PA and possibly NJ prior to their arrival. Have information on many descendants, also on Selby line. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
