My ggfather was John S. Patterson, b. about 1838 in KY (according to the census) who was residing in Hankock Cty, KY in 1850. He married Josaphine Pate and had 7 kids one, William Franklin was my gfather. John is a very common name but could he have been the son of John the son of your John? I have also been searching back for ancestors of John S but have had no success so far. Dick
