Henry Harrison Patterson Served from August 31, 1861 until April 30, 1864 ---first with the Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Company H, 23rd Regiment, Walker Barstow Invincibles, Army of Tenessee, Confederate States Army (CSA).............then with the 23rd Georgia Regiment in the army of Virginia. Two of his companions in the Army of Virginia were V. M. Reed and Ezekiel Foster of Walker Co., GA Robert Patterson's ( who served in the 12th Tennessee, Company D, (Gibson County) picture hangs in the "Hall of Fame"at Shiloh National Battlefield Military Park, Pittsburg Landing, Hardin County, Tennesee The Patterson ancestors originally came from Scotland to Ireland and emigrated from Hillsboro in County Down, to America in 1705. The majority of the first Pattersons went to the frontier of Pennsylvania or to the wilds of North Carolina to make their fortunes. Many of the Texas Pattersons settled in Collin County, Texas near McKinney and Farmersville, Texas. ****According to information from the archivists in Atlanta, Georgia, persons who did not go through the official surrender process at the end of the war, were often listed as desertors. Many of the soldiers simply went home at the end of the conflict.
