I am new to Genealogy especially on the internet, but have decided that a good place to start is with my Paterson line. Family folklaw (and the presence of a portrait) tells me that I am a decendant of William Paterson (1658-1719), who founded the Bank Of England in 1694. He was also responsible for the ill fated Darem scheme which sent 1200 people to colonize the Atlantic side of the Isthmis of Panama, in 1696, many died including his wife and child, and the majority of the survivors including William Paterson returned to Scotland. We know nothing more of the Patersons until James Speirs Paterson (b 1795) married in Aug 1811 Marion Jean Hardy, (Hardie?)(b 20 mar 1794) daughter of James HARDY and Marion LAMB. We know of 5 children - John P. (who had 7 children no details known) -Robert Lamb P. moved to Brooklyn NY -Marion Lamb P. married a Sepburn -Jean Baird P. married David Bell and my ancestor -James Speirs P. b 1825? who married Edwina BARRON, b 5 May 1817 Gorbals Lanark they had 4 children - Alexander P. who married Bella Graham - William Barron P. who married Elizabeth Robinson - James Speirs P. who married matilda and my ancestor -Robert Lamb P. christened 8 July 1855 Glasgow who married (9 Sept 1878 Dunedin New Zealand), Catherine BAILEY (chr 28 mar 1853 Edinburgh) Robert Lamb P. (1855-1932) probably either arrived in Dunedin New Zealand on the "Jura" in 1858 with his parents, and returned to Scotland arriving back in Dunedin on the "Dunedin" in 1876 alone, We have more information of his decendants in New Zealand Thank You to anyone who can help me to find the 'missing links' Anne
